This class has been very eye opening as far as what all goes into research. I have a greater appreciation for those who do research all the time or enjoy doing research. I have realized that I do not mind it, but that it is definitely not my favorite thing to do. I am glad I have the skills to do it when I need to. Some of the things that I have learned is that it takes time. You can not create a sound research study overnight. I also learned that where you think you want your research to go in the beginning is not always where it will end up and that is okay. These processes have taught me to be more analytical and to always ask for help from outside people, because they might have a different view or take on what you are trying to accomplish. I think that it has also broadened my horizons in what I could do in the future with a TWDR degree. Thanks so much for a great class!

    Learning to ask for help is such a hard thing. It's weird because when I expect feedback in a rough draft it's easy but it took me a while to realize just how many resources there are to make our lives easier. Also, Madi you're awesome and I'll miss having class with you next semester.

    I definitely relate to being glad I know how to research despite it not being my favorite thing. You were great this semester and I appreciated the time we worked together during the breakout groups.

    So true, Madi! learning to realize my writter skills need to be sharpened. I am also glad I have learned the skills to do it when I needed. I also learned that some studies will take a long time to create a sound research study where others are needed sooner.

Blog Post #3 Research Gap

 Well when it comes to my topic I think the biggest gap is just research done on the actual topic. I wanted to look into whether Navigate was an effective software to use for Students and Staff at Universities. While this is still part of my focus there is just not any research done on Navigate as it is still a new software that is out there. So a gap in research would just be more done on Navigate itself. I think as time goes on more and more universities will implement Navigate which will lead to research done on it. Right now my research seems to be the only thing out there that has been done on this. Which is actually super cool to think about.

Blog Post #4

 My main goal with my research project is to get all the pieces together. I want to get the survey completed and start having people take it. This way I know what information I am getting and can start prepping what I will be talking about in the paper. The next would be to finalize my literature review, by adding some more information in some sections and making the different changes that Dr. Bacabac suggested. I want to get that done sooner rather than later as that is a big part of the paper. I feel like once those two things are done that my paper will fall together pretty easily. My goal is to have both done this week. Autumn also gave me some great suggestions about working with the person who runs navigate to help with the project.

Blog Post#1 Research Topic

 Research Topic Idea: I am not quite sure yet on the topic that I want to research. However I do know that I want to do something with usability. I want to be able to involve my current job and how effective the things we produce for our center and for the students are. I am interested in researching the effectiveness of font, or color, or layout. I am quite interested in document design and the visual aspect of printed materials. In the end, I am subject to change this topic as I learn more about document design in my visual design class this semester. I hope to have a more solidified idea of my research topic in the coming weeks.
